FUN BUN

Today I wanted to have fun and experiment with unconventional items to use as accessories around a hair bun.  I used yellow wrapper Chupa Chups lollipops, my father's vintage bow tie, costume sunglasses, a POP swatch watch and finally a sequins patch that I bought from Spotlight. This is how it all turned out!

Hope you enjoy the pics and have a wonderful week!

Fashion goes 'Dotty'

Polka dots are one of those trends that seem to repeatedly make a come back to the fashion world. Polka dots were seen in an assortment of sizes on the Fall 2011 runways by such designers as Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney and Jeremy Laing to just name a few. Designers have taken the polka dot trend to the next level through layered fabrics, rich textures and solid colours. The polka dot trend has been seen all over magazine spreads as well as on celebrities at red carpet events. I have referenced all of the above in images at the bottom of this post.

To begin with I will share with you pieces that I have designed incorporating polka dots. After looking back at my past collections I came to the realisation that I had designed a polka dot piece in each of my collections. I certainly am a fan of this trend!

LOOK 1:
Below is my 'I'm going dotty' coat and dress ensemble. This is one of my favourite designs. I had it made up in a couple of prints; floral and polka dots. I have lined the coat in the same polka dot fabric as the dress. I feel so feminine and flirty when I wear this outfit.

LOOK 2:
Look 2 was designed for my first collection. I was immediately attracted to the subtle embossed polka dot fabric that I used on the neckline, waistband and bolero.

LOOK 3:
Another of my past designs that I dug out of the closet is this fun polka dot hooded top. I love the colours of this fabric!

LOOK 4:
You might be familiar with the vest shot in look 4 as I wore it with my bubbles skirt in a previous post. I wanted to shoot the complete suit as it really makes quite a different statement when worn as a suit. I had fun mixing and matching different textured fabrics whilst designing this suit.
I have to tell you, the white sculptured shoes might look uncomfortable but believe me, they are the most comfortable pair I own!

THE ESPLANADE MARKET-ST KILDA

On Sunday I awoke with the sun streaming through the window and the birds chirping. I knew this would be a great day to come out of winter hibernation and absorb some vitamin D.
Dusty and I decided to make good use of the weather and head for St Kilda to visit the Esplanade Market. The sky was a perfect shade of blue and people were out and about with smiles on their faces.  It felt like summer!

The Esplanade Market is made up of 150 stall holders, each offering a selection of contemporary artwork including fashion. It is open every Sunday of the year from 10am to 5pm.

I am sharing with you some pictures of the day and have highlighted some stalls that appealed to me.
Enjoy!

Have a great week!
